Regular care for children is extremely important to create a solid foundation for ongoing oral hygiene and give parents the chance to ask any questions they have about their child’s oral health.
We will take steps in order to make the experience as pleasant as possible for your child, and to make them feel comfortable with the procedure. We will use a technique called Tell Show Do on virtually all young children. We will explain the steps to your child in a way they can understand, and show them how it will be done. We may even allow your child to handle some of our instruments, so that they are aware of what will be placed in their mouth. Part of your child’s dental exam will include dental radiography. This allows the dentist to make a more complete and informed diagnosis, therefore, preventing further damage to the teeth as well as preventing the need for more extensive dental treatment in the future. In addition to regular examinations and nutritional counseling, we have preventive services such as pit & fissure sealants, fluoride, and mouth guards (sports guard), and restorative dental services for children.
At Silver Maple Dental we also supervise child’s developing jaws and teeth during the period of growth from infancy to adulthood. With appropriately timed maintenance of existing jaw space, the dentist may reduce or eliminate the need for future extensive orthodontic treatment. We offer different types of appliances and treatment methods to manage space during childhood. Obviously, the ideal space maintainer is the primary tooth itself. In case of early baby tooth loss, it is important to make an appointment with us, so we can prevent future space loss. This is the best way to save the space for the adult teeth and to avoid crowding of the existing teeth.
Complete oral cancer screening is done at Silver Maple Dental to detect the disease early and increase the chances of successful treatment and survival. We always advise our patients to plan for oral cancer screening at our clinic at least once every year. Our qualified dentists are able to detect the early signs of oral cancer, refer you to the appropriate medical professionals if anything is suspected, and help save your life.
Lost or absent teeth can leave visible gaps between your natural teeth. In the situation where one or more tooth is missing, a dental bridge could be suggested.
The teeth supporting your bridge could be shaped and prepared to make certain that they will successfully secure the bridge in place.
Dental crowns are like custom-made caps that are placed over the tooth. They can be placed for cosmetic reasons or to protect the underlying teeth, improving your teeth’s contours, color, function and durability.
At Silver Maple Dental, we may recommend dental crowns after certain dental procedures, such as root canal treatment, or when a tooth is heavily broken or decayed, and has become too weak for a filling to be done.
“THE INVISIBLE WAY TO STRAIGHTEN YOUR TEETH.”
Now it may be possible to straighten your teeth using a series of custom-made aligners by Invisalign. Whether your teeth are crowded, too far apart, or have shifted requiring realignment, we may be able to correct it using Invisalign Aligners.
Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move your teeth. The Invisalign aligners are made using high-tech 3-D computer imaging technology which depicts the entire treatment plan from the initial position to the desired final result in a series of steps that represent each individual aligner. Each aligner moves the teeth incrementally and is worn for about two weeks. The aligners can be removed to eat, brush and floss making this procedure a healthier and less cumbersome alternative to braces.
You realize you might be having a dental emergency when you are in intense pain, whether from an accident, an infection or simply a bite that went drastically wrong. Maybe you may have lost a filling, a crown or a veneer. We know that dental pain can be severe, and waiting around for an appointment can be excruciating. For this reason, we will do our very best to accommodate you and get you out of pain. No matter when your emergency strikes, Silver Maple Dental is devoted to getting you the help you need.
Snore guards are among the most commonly used appliances to treat snoring and mild sleep apnea that does not yet require a C-PAP machine. The small oral appliance is worn when sleeping in order to open the air passage and prevent your tongue and jaw from slipping back and obstructing your airway when the muscles relax. The snore guard is designed in such a way that your lower jaw remains in a forward position so that your breathing airways do not become blocked when you sleep.
By wearing the snore guard, you can sleep soundly without constantly waking to catch your breath, and you don’t wake up feeling fatigued or lethargic the next day.
We would love to help you address your snoring issue by taking the time to evaluate your needs and identify the right snore guard to alleviate symptoms of sleep apnea. Get in touch with us to start enjoying a good night’s sleep!
A tooth that is broken, damaged, or decayed can be restored with either fillings or crowns. Sometimes, when the teeth are beyond repair or restoration they may need an extraction. When gum diseases are left untreated, the strength of the gums are continually weakening, which may ultimately cause the teeth to fall out or may require extraction as to prevent the spread of bacteria in the surrounding gums. Silver Maple Dental relies on extractions when there is no other alternative left to treat the disease.
Extraction of impacted third molars (wisdom teeth) is often required as the abnormal growth of the tooth causes discomfort to the adjacent teeth.
Custom made dentures can be used to replace one or several teeth, and the results are fantastic. They help with chewing, give support to your facial muscles, help speech, and stabilize adjacent teeth.
At our dental practice, we have dedicated ourselves to making patients feel comfortable and at ease during dental exams and procedures. If you are someone who hasn’t been to the dentist in years because of fear and anxiety, we are committed to providing you with a safe and relaxing dental experience.
At Silver Maple Dental we offer different Types of Sedation:
Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a pain relieving and sedating gas that is combined with oxygen to make patients more comfortable during dental care.
Oral or “pill” Sedation
Before starting a dental procedure, you are given a small pill. You will remain awake throughout the procedure, but you will have a drifting feeling and sometimes fall into a light sleep, and have little or no memory of the procedure afterward. Oral conscious sedation is good for longer, more complicated dentistry. The pill’s effects can last up to six hours, and side effects are extremely rare.
Intravenous or IV Conscious Sedation
Under the close supervision of our doctors and registered nurse, a sedative enters your bloodstream via simple intravenous techniques. You will remain conscious during IV sedation at our office. You will be in a state of extreme relaxation. The best part is that you will have no memory of the procedure. This is also known as “twilight” or “sleep” dentistry.
If you suffer from tenderness in your jaw muscles, limited jaw opening, jaws that get stuck, unexplained headaches or facial pain, joint clicking, You may have a condition called temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). TMJ disorders can be caused by injury to the face and jaw regions, bite problems, clenching your jaw, grinding teeth, whiplash, and even poor posture resulting in damage to the joints or misalignment. Facial, tooth and ear aches as well as “clicking” in the jaw, headaches, back, neck and shoulder pain can occur.
There’s no simple prescription for TMJ problems.
Treatment can be as simple as wearing an occlusal appliance (Night guard), or as extensive as reconstructing your bite. We will find a solution that is just right for you.
When the pulp is injured or diseased and is unable to repair itself, it becomes inflamed and will eventually become necrotic (i.e., dead). Root Canal Therapy must, therefore, be instituted in order to avoid the spread of inflammation and infection to the tissues surrounding the diseased tooth.
When a patient develops recession of the gums, it is important to have it examined by a dentist in order for her or him to determine the best treatment options to correct this problem and/or to prevent further recession.
There are different root coverage procedures that can be used in the treatment of recession. One such technique is the placement of a connective tissue graft or AlloDerm, which is used to cover the exposed root where the recession has occurred.
